ZAGREB, Jan 24 (Hina) - About 250 representatives of 42 NATO countries and members of the alliance's Partnership for Peace (PfP) programme were meeting at Zagreb's Westin hotel on Tuesday ahead of an international military exercise dubbed "Combined Endeavour 2006", which is scheduled to take place at Baumholder, Germany, in May.

The conference will focus on the planning, examination and documentation of the level of adjustment of the strategic and tactical communications systems between the NATO and PfP members.

The meeting, organised by the Department for Command Communications Systems of the Croatian Armed Forces Main Staff, is being held under the auspices of the United States Europe Command (USECOM.)

Croatian Defence Ministry official Mate Raboteg told reporters that it was a great honour for Croatia, which aspires to join NATO, to the meeting.

Asked about the state of communications equipment in the Croatian Armed Forces, Raboteg said that the equipment was good and that Croatia had begun manufacturing high-quality communications systems domestically.
