BRUSSELS, June 1 (Hina) - European Enlargement Commissioner Olli
Rehn has said that the European Commission will renew the suspended
negotiations on a Stabilisation and Association Agreement (SAA) with Serbia,
which has shown unequivocal commitment to the full cooperation with the
Hague-based UN war crimes tribunal. According to a press release
from Brussels, the date of the resumption of the negotiations will be announced
next week after the Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Tribunal
for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) returns from a visit to Belgrade.
The Human Rights Watch has said that Serbia has not deserved to have
its talks with the European Union resumed and criticised the Union for sending
a wrong message by announcing that the talks would be renewed in the near
future.
