Addressing the parliament this afternoon, the leader of the Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) said the priorities of the new government, to consist of 22 ministers plus the prime minister and his two deputies, were Kosovo, Serbia's integration with the European Union, cooperation with the Hague-based war crimes tribunal, social and economic policies, and the fight against crime and corruption.
Kostunica said the Serbian Constitution clearly defined that the province of "Kosovo and Metohija is a constitutional and inseparable part of Serbia".
He said that the EU membership was a part of political platforms of all parties that would constitute the new government.
"(Serbia's) status of a candidate for EU membership is the first and short-term goal," Kostunica said, adding that it was therefore important to successfully complete cooperation with the UN tribunal in The Hague in the shortest possible time.
Kostunica announced the establishment of a National Security Council to co-ordinate the work of all security agencies in the country.
After Kostunica's address, MPs discussed his speech.
