SARAJEVO, May 28 (Hina) - Serbian foreign minister Vuk Jeremic has
said the Serbian government hoped that negotiations on a status of Kosovo will
resume and that those talks would not prejudge the independence of that
province. During his visit to Sarajevo on Monday, Jeremic told a
news conference that the declaration of Kosovo's independence without
Belgrade's approval could push the region back into the 1990s.
The minister confirmed that last week the Serbian government had sent a
letter to the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon proposing the resumption of the
negotiations on Kosovo which would not prejudge any outcome.
