Croatian budgetary revenues increase more than projected

ZAGREB, May 26 (Hina) - The budget revenues rose by 15.2 percent, that is by about 5.3 billion kuna, until 23 May this year in the comparison to the same period in 2006, the Croatian Finance Ministry reported on Thursday.
ZAGREB, May 26 (Hina) - The budget revenues rose by 15.2 percent, that is by about 5.3 billion kuna, until 23 May this year in the comparison to the same period in 2006, the Croatian Finance Ministry reported on Thursday.

According to ministry officials who held a news briefing, the budgetary revenues came to approximately 40 billion kuna.

The budgetary expenditure that increased in accordance with projections was about 41 billion kuna.

Officials said that budgetary revenues were larger by 2.5 billion kuna than planned in this period of 2007.

They could not say where this increase in the revenues would be used adding that it was up to Prime Minister Ivo Sanader and Finance Minister Ivan Suker to decide.

This year, the general government deficit is projected to be 2.8 percent of Gross Domestic Product, while in 2006 it came to three percent of GDP.

The budgetary revenues in 2006 rose on a yearly rate by 11.4 percent to 95.2 billion kuna, with the expenditure rising nine percent to 99.4 billion kuna.

Thus, the budgetary deficit came to 4.15 billion kuna.
