There will be no new negotiations regardless of Serbia's and Russia's positions, Ceku said after talks with the UN civil administrator in Kosovo, Joachim Ruecker.
Ceku underlined that the plan by UN special envoy for Kosovo Martti Ahtisaari remained the foundation for the definition of the province's status, and said he expected Kosovo to become an independent state by the end of May.
With regard to the announced visit by a Security Council delegation to Kosovo later next week, Ceku said he expected it to be an opportunity to reaffirm Kosovo's achievements and not to backtrack. He voiced confidence that support for Ahtisaari's plan would grow after the visit.
Ceku also voiced confidence that like Pristina, other governments too were against new negotiations on Kosovo's status, and that Serbia and Russia were the exceptions.
He reiterated that the decision on the status was up to the Security Council and that he expected a decision on independence.
