KARLOVAC, Feb 5 (Hina) - Exhumations carried out at Babina Greda and Petrova Gora locations in the Karlovac area have revealed the bodies of 360 people believed to have been killed during and in the aftermath of World War II, Karlovac County Court spokeswoman Alenka Laptalo said in a statement on Monday.

The exhumations were requested by the Karlovac County Court as part of an investigation into war crimes committed during and shortly after WWII. So far, 35 witnesses have been interviewed in the investigation, but none of them are immediate witnesses of the crimes.

An autopsy of the bodies has shown that the victims were shot in the head.

Following the autopsy, the bodies were buried in a Karlovac cemetery and are later to be reburied at a special location.

So far, there have been no requests for identification by the victims' families and none of the victims has been identified.

The Karlovac County Court has been conducting the investigation in line with the 2001 government decision on war crimes committed during and in the aftermath of WWII.
