SARAJEVO, Feb 1 (Hina) - The State Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina
has confirmed an indictment against Sefik Alic charging him with war crimes
against Serb prisoners committed in Croatia during the August 1995 Operation
Storm, the court said on Thursday. The indictment charges Alic of
acting contrary to the Geneva conventions in his capacity as assistant
commander for security of the Hamze battalion, which was active within the
Bosnian Army's Fifth Corps during armed conflicts in Bosnia and Herzegovina and
Croatia.
Alic took part in the physical and psychological torture of four
prisoners of war, incited that they be killed and failed to punish the
perpetrators over whom he had effective control, the indictment said.
