MOSTAR, Jan 9 (Hina) - The international community's High
Representative to Bosnia-Herzegovina, Christian Schwarz-Schilling, said in an
interview with the Mostar-based Dnevni List daily on Tuesday that last year's
independence referendum in Montenegro and a forthcoming decision on the final
status of Kosovo would have consequences in Bosnia-Herzegovina. He did not
elaborate. It was the first time the High Representative or a senior
international official in Bosnia-Herzegovina had publicly admitted that
Montenegro's independence and Kosovo's status would affect the situation in the
country.
International officials have insisted that the problem of Kosovo is
Serbia's internal affair and that Montenegro's independence and the situation
in Kosovo will not affect Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Schwarz-Schilling made the statement ahead of his tour of Berlin,
Paris, Brussels, Rome, London, Moscow and Washington where he would have
consultations on the situation in Bosnia-Herzegovina.
