BANJA LUKA, Jan 8 (Hina) - The President of Republika Srpska, Milan Jelic, said on Monday that the Bosnian Serb entity was ready to delegate some of its constitutional powers to the common bodies of the State of Bosnia-Herzegovina if that would benefit citizens.

"Solutions that prove ineffective should be sent back to the entities or even local communities so that Bosnia-Herzegovina can become more effective and functional, but also more decentralised," Jelic told reporters after a reception for Republika Srpska Day.

Jelic reiterated that Republika Srpska had made a substantial contribution to the reform of Bosnia-Herzegovina's defence system, and said that the country's recent admission to NATO's Partnership for Peace programme was "the most significant date for citizens of Bosnia-Herzegovina after the signing of the Dayton Accords."
