The spot December contract received the brunt of the day's losses, with much of the activity centered on the nearby spread, as traders rolled December forward ahead of first notice day November 14. December futures fell $11 a tonne on the day, to $1,353, having ranged from $1,350 to $1,366. Second-position March ended $5 weaker at $1,392, while the back months slipped $2 to $7. Although December survived another test of key support at $1,350, traders said the market looked poised to challenge a recent low of $1,341. On the upside, resistance was seen at $1,375, with a chart gap looming at $1,378-1,382. On the March chart, support was pegged at around $1,372, while resistance was seen at a gap between $1,404 and $1,408. Fundamentally, dealers continue to keep an eye on Ivorian arrivals as shipments are expected to pick up in the coming weeks. Warehouses at the main port of Abidjan are said to be filling up as exporters await licences and a decision on freight rates. Volume reached an estimated 9,222 lots, up from Wednesday's official tally of 8,203 lots.
