GENEVA, May 5 (Hina) - A session of the working group on economic
relations of the International Conference on Former Yugoslavia has
commenced today in the Palais des Nations in Geneva. This is the
second meeting of the working group in this year.
Group chairman Jean Durieux stressed that the European Union
(EU) and the international community had not yet decided who would
coordinate the granting of financial assistance to the countries of
the former Yugoslavia.
At today's meeting the Croatian side reitereated its demand
for international assistance, pleading reconstruction needs. The
Slovene delegation was not interested in the proceedings except
insofar as they dealt with the division of former Yugoslav assets
among the republics. The Serb and Monenegrin delegations refused to
take part in any joint activities, clamouring for a lift of the
trade sanctions.
