BELGRADE, May 24 (Hina) - The number of terrorist attacks on
Catholic churches in the so-called Federal Republic of Yugoslavia
(Serbia and Montenegro) has increased.
The latest incident happened in Vasica, near Sid, where a
Catholic church was blown up on the night of May 21.
On the night between May 19 and 20, a bomb was thrown into the
front yard of a Catholic church in Sremska Mitrovica.
Terror started on the night between May 4 and 5, when a church
in Hrtkovci was destroyed by explosion. The vestry was destroyed in
the fire and the church was plundered.
On the night between May 5 and 6, the newly-erected cross in
the village of Bac was blown up.
Twelve gravestones were desecrated and a cross was torn down
at a Catholic graveyard in Surcin, just outside Belgrade.
According to the Croatian Office in Belgrade, the police
started an investigation only after the latest vandalism in Surcin.
Perpetrators were still unknown but the police said they would be
brought to justice.
