SARAJEVO, May 13 (Hina) - A fresh outburst of fighting erupted
this morning in northern Bosnia, UNPROFOR Headquarters in
Sarajevo said. Between 5 and 8 a.m. UN military observers
registered more than 1000 strong detonations on separation lines
around Orasje.
Other fronts in Bosnia-Herzegovina were quieter.
The severest fighting was reported in western Bosnia, on the
Grabez plateau, east of Bihac, UN spokesman Garry Coward said.
The Bosnian army Fifth Corps managed to gain ground in the
eastern part of the front. The fighting on the Grabez plateau
continued last night when some 180 cannon and mortar detonations
were registered.
Last night's attack on the town of Bihac was launched in
retaliation for the defeat the Serbs had suffered, UN officials
said. Four shells were fired on different parts of the town, but
there were no casualties.
An International Red Cross convoy yesterday dispatched 90
tonnes of food for the hospital and soup kitchens in Bihac. This
was a monthly supply for 3,000 elderly people and 1,500 patients
in the Bihac hospital.
