ZAGREB, May 12 (Hina) - The situation in Croatia's occupied areas
was still tense, but there had been no major incidents, the UN in
Zagreb said today.
Spokesman Christopher Gunnes described the situation in former
sector North as stable, adding that rebel Serb forces were "fully
mobilised" and the movement of UN peace-keepers was still
restricted.
In former Sector South, the Croatian army was still present
"in the areas of Otocac and Medak" and "around UN observation
posts." The main problem in the region had to do with difficulties
in shipping supplies, particularly fuel, to UN troops.
In former Sector East, the situation was still tense and the
sides did not show any sign of readiness to withdraw from cease-
fire lines, Gunness said.
"UN efforts to disengage forces at the local level have proved
unsuccessful," he said.
