ZAGREB, May 4 (Hina) - The Croatian Defence Ministry today
energetically rejected a statement by UN spokesman Christopher
Gunness that Croatian troops were plundering houses in the
liberated town of Okucani.
The statement, made at a press conference in Zagreb today, was
described as inaccurate and ungrounded.
"The truth is that the first day Okucani was liberated there
were attempts by individuals to enter houses without authorization
and take away other people's property. Those were two civilian
persons who were apprehended and handed over to the investigating
magistrate.
Therefore the statement by the UN spokesman can be interpreted
as biassed, formulated obviously with some other intentions," a
Defence Ministry statement said.
