ZAGREB, March 31 (Hina) - Croatia is providing for 384,658
refugees and internally displaced persons, according to
information issued today by the government office for refugees
and displaced persons.
There are 192,149 internally displaced persons most of whom
have found shelter in the Zagreb area. The Zagreb regional office
is caring for 30,436 persons.
There are 27,956 displaced persons in Osijek, 19,570 in
Zadar, 14,937 in Karlovac, and 14,438 in Vinkovci.
The refugees, mostly from Bosnia-Herzegovina, account for
184,494 persons. More than a quarter of them - 51,542 persons -
have been accommodated in the Zagreb area.
There are 19,224 refugees in Vinkovci, 17,559 in Slavonski
Brod, 15,918 in Split, and 11,004 in Rijeka, according to
information released by respective regional offices.
So far 3,850 people have returned to their homes. Temporary
refugee status has been granted to 4,165 persons in transit to
other countries.
