ZAGREB, March 24 (Hina) - Economic reform in Croatia, the economic
situation in its occupied territories and the problem of displaced
persons and refugees, were the main themes of talks between Prime
Minister Nikica Valentic and a delegation of the Bundestag foreign
relations committee, led by Karl-Heinz Hornshues.
Peace and a healthy economic program were the preconditions
for the successful economic and democratic development of Croatia,
while the economy could play a very important role in the peaceful
reintegration of occupied territories, Valentic said.
Valentic told the German parliamentarians that the problem of
displaced persons and refugees was undoubtedly the worst
consequence of Serbian aggression against Croatia.
Hornhues said after the talks that the aim of the delegation's
visit was to learn aout the views of the Croatian government and
Parliament on a new UN mandate. He added that Germany welcomed the
current developments concerning this.
