COPENHAGEN, March 12 (Hina) - The office of the UN Secretary-
General Boutros Boutros-Ghali, today issued a statement on Ghali's
meeting with US Vice President Al Gore in Copenhagen. The following
is the statement:
"At 1:15 p.m., today Sunday, 12 March, Secretary-General
Boutros Boutros-Ghali met with the Vice President of the United
States, Al Gore. During their 30-minute meeting, they welcomed the
latest development regarding the continuation of the presence of
the United Nations in Croatia. The Vice President reaffirmed the
commitment of his Administration to the United Nations. The two
interlocutors expressed their satisfaction at the numbers and high
level of participation in the World Summit for Social Development
and the expected results.
The discussion was followed by a private meeting in which the
Vice President, the Secretary-General and Madeleine Albright,
Permanent Representative of the United States to the United
Nations, participated."
