U.N. CONCERNED ABOUT GROWING NUMBER OF TRUCE BREACHES IN CROATIA

Autor:
ZAGREB, March 7 (Hina) - The UN today expressed concern about a growing number of ceasefire violations in Croatia, and about the Croatian army and rebel Serbs fortifying their positions along the lines of separation. UN spokesman Christopher Gunnes told a press conference in Zagreb that since the ceasefire agreement was signed on March 29 last year, the number of ceasefire violations per day had risen from 30 to 200. Colonel Walt Natynczyk said UNPROFOR had not noticed any sign of preparations for an offensive on either side. But he added that the Sunday inspection of a UN-guarded weapons collection site in UN Sector North had shown that 14 cannons were missing. (hina) mm vm 071538 MET mar 95
