SARAJEVO, March 3 (Hina) - Two civilians and a UN French
peacekeeper were wounded today when Serb forces positioned in the
Grbavica district opened fire at the Holiday Inn area in central
Sarajevo.
UN spokesman, Pierre Cheveny, said the UN French soldier
received a bullet to the head, but his life was not in danger.
The two civilians were wounded while travelling on a tram
which was running along the notorious Sniper Alley, near the
Holiday Inn hotel.
One civilian was in a critical condition after suffering
wounds to the abdomen, and doctors were fighting to save him,
hospital officials said.
The attack occurred at 12.30 hours and UN soldiers returned
fire. Two days ago the UN deployed French anti-sniper squads in
this area.
