ZAGREB, Jan 4 (Hina) - The Croatian government and UNPA Serb
authorities met at Zagreb airport today to discuss the further
implementation of the December 2 economic agreement. The talks
adjourned at 4pm for an hour's break.
The Croatian government delegation was led by Hrvoje Sarinic
and Serbs were represented by Borislav Mikelic.
"Croatia cannot be satisfied with agreements that are not
being implemented or that are not implemented within set
deadlines," Sarinic told reporters as he left the UNPROFOR base.
He added that Croatia demanded that the agreement specify how
businesses and industrial facilities would be repaired and
deadlines for their reconstruction.
"Without this, Croatia is not prepapred to continue
negotiations or sign any document," he stressed.
"What has been achieved so far in implementing the agreement
certainly is not enough to motivate Croatia to extend UNPROFOR's
mandate," Sarinic warned, adding this was the last chance do
something about it.
Speaking of Croatian remarks on the implementation of the
economic agreement, Sarinic said Croatia was not satisfied with the
way the Zagreb-Lipovac highway had been opened because of the
presence of Serb police and troops and Serb symbols along the road.
Sarinic was accompanied by Croatian ambassador to the UN in
Geneva Miomir Zuzul and the talks were mediated by co-chairmen of
the International Conference on the Former Yugoslavia David Owen
and Thorvald Stoltenberg.
