The Supreme Court confirmed that a strike, which the Croatian
Railway Workers' Union started on 28 November 1996, was illegal,
the statement said, adding that the HZ management would file a
complaint against the Railway Workers' Union and demand
compensation for the damage caused by the strike.
The HZ management would demand a breach of contract with 24
employees, organizers of the strike, in line with the Labour Law.
According to first estimates, the total damage caused by the
strike, not including the damage inflicted on Croatian economy,
amounted to 20 million kuna and some 320,000 ECU. Organizers of the
strike would be held responsible for the damage, said the statement
from the HZ management.
