ZAGREB, Dec 2 (Hina) - The Croatian Railway workers' Union's Central Strike Committee on Monday issued a statement saying that "pressure exerted by the Croatian Railways (HZ) management on striking railway workers continues
unfalteringly, and the HZ management has dispatched controllers to train stations and working stations to demand from railmen to make written statements against the strike, and if they refused, they would not be paid or would be dismissed".

The pressure on the workers was justified by the HZ management
as being necessary for payroll accounts, the statement said.
The HZ management also issued a statement on Monday, saying
that it was not using any measures of repression on workers which
were striking.
The HZ administration was informing the public that it had
issued directions on registering working hours, under the Law on
Labour which enabled it to decrease workers' salaries for their
time spent in striking, the statement said.
The HZ management had held a meeting focusing on a collective
agreement, with representatives of eight registered unions in the
HZ, among which had been a Croatian Railway Workers' Union, but he
had refused to take part in collective negotiations until the
strike ended, the statement said.
Based on the above mentioned and ever increasing appeals of
workers themselves for an end to the strike, the HZ management
called the Central Strike Committee to end the strike and call its
members to return to their jobs, the statement said.
