CRO RAILWAYS MANAGEMENT CALLS ON STRIKERS TO END STRIKE

ZAGREB, 1 Dec (Hina) - Despite several appeals to Croatian railway workers to give up the strike, the Croatian Union of Railway Workers has been ignoring all appeals by the Croatian Railways (HZ) management and other unions, under the pretext of waiting for the HZ management to call for negotiations, a statement from the HZ management said on Sunday. The HZ management wants to warn the striking workers that it has nothing to negotiate about, since the Government has met all its commitments toward the Croatian Railways. The payment of a non-recurring holiday supplement to salaries and presents for children depend only on HZ's financial situation, the statement said. #L# 'In a situation when Croatia's railway service has been reduced to a minimum, it is not only questionable how money for their demands will be gathered, but it is also questionable how all other railway workers will receive November salaries', the statement said. Negotiations about the signing of a collective agreement would be held only with all nine unions, the statement said. HZ management called on all striking workers to realize the seriousness of the situation. The payment of November salaries for all HZ workers would depend exclusively on the Main Strikers' Committee and their decision to end or continue the strike, said the statement, signed by the HZ management president Marijan Klaric.
