HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES ENDS SESSION

Autor: ;RM;
ZAGREB, 14 Nov (Hina) - The Parliament House of Representatives on Thursday voted confidence in the Government with an overwhelming majority and one abstention. The vote on this item, which was left from the previous session and on other items which were discussed yesterday, closed the 13th session of the House of Representatives. Today's voting, as well as the major part of yesterday's session, were not attended by Opposition representatives. They left yesterday's session after the Opposition draft resolution on the solution of 'Zagreb crisis' had been taken off the agenda by a majority vote. Today's vote of confidence was proposed at the last session by the Croatian Social-Liberal Party (HSLS) bench, because of an unsatisfactory additional Government audit report. The House of Representatives unanimously adopted a law on marking the sites of mass graves of Homeland war victims. The law envisages a 90-day deadline within which the Culture Ministry has to invite bids for drawing up a project on the construction of monuments and a six-month deadline within which Parliament has to propose a program on marking mass grave sites. According to the law, the Government should set the sites of mass graves in which the remains of unidentified victims will be buried. The House of Representatives also adopted amendments to the Law on Courts, which dissolve court martials. After voicing their opinions on 99 amendments, the House of Representatives adopted a Law on Public Roads, according to which Croatian roads will be divided into state, county and local roads, in line with criteria which are to be set by the Government.
