CROSS FOR DEAD HOMELAND WAR SOLDIERS BLESSED AT ZAGREB CEMETERY

ZAGREB, Oct 31 (Hina) - Assistant Bishop of Zagreb Msgr. Juraj Jezerinac, Thursday blessed a new cross for Croatia's dead Homeland War soldiers, set up at the Zagreb central cemetery of Mirogoj. The new cross was set up at an initiative by the Zagreb-based association of killed soldiers' families. It was created by a Croatian artist, Miroslav Sutej. The 11.7-metre-long cross has been made out of gilded bronze, and its pedestal was covered by empty artillery shells' cases coated with bronze. Present at the act of blessing were Croatia's Parliament deputy speaker, Jadranka Kosor, and the Croatian Army headquarters' chief-of-staff, General Zvoniomir Cervenko. (hina) mm mš 311159 MET oct 96
