ZAGREB, Oct 30 (Hina) - Head of the Croatian government Office for
the establishment of Croatian authority in the Croatian Danubian
area, Ivica Vrkic, on Wednesday said that he had held talks with
the UN Transitional Administrator General Klein, in Vukovar on
Wednesday, where the final agreement was reached on preparations
for the visit of displaced persons to cemeteries in the UNTAES
administered areas on All Saints' Day.
"We agreed that all locations previously agreed on will be
allowed to be visited. This does not mean that we are satisfied.
However, if all goes well on the first day, it would be possible to
visit some locations which have not been mentioned so far, due to
security reasons," Vrkic told the Croatian Television.
He added that visiting cemeteries on All Saints' Day was a
religious event, and that "nobody wants to score any political
points from this".
Asked about the possibility of occurring incidents, Vrkic said
that all political prepositions had been established for incidents
not to occur.
The visit to cemeteries would either help the peaceful
reintegration to end peacefully, or would convey that the whole
process was faced with great trials, Vrkic said.
"From talks with the UNTAES and the other side, we estimate
that all preconditions have been set for this event to pass as it
had been planned," Vrkic said.
