PL $ ANTS IN CRO DANUBIAN AREA OSIJEK, Sept 12 (Hina) - Heads of implementation committees for the Croatian Electric Power Industry (HEP) and Croatian Post and Telecommunications (HPT) with the Croatian government Office of Temporary Administration, Vencel Lasic and Petar Tumir, informed Thursdays news conference about the work of the committees in the process of peaceful reintegration of the Croatian Danubian area, especially about their negotiations with the Serb side. #L# Recalling that the HEP Implementation Committee had visited all power stations in the Danubian area and had drawn up a project report on the damages which were estimated at about 151 million dollars, Lasic stressed that talks about the ways to repair the stations were under way. Different views had been expressed about the organization of the reconstruction during the talks with the Serb side, Lasic said, adding that it had been agreed that HEP would organize the reconstruction by ensuring the material, mechanization and workers for the reconstruction, with the cooperation of experts from the UNTAES-administered areas. Head of the HPT Committee, Petar Tumir said that the talks with the Serb side had come to a stand-still because of organizational issues. The Croatian side had suggested that the UNTAES-administered area be included in the HPT system at county level, and the Serb side had proposed that the area be given certain independence, Tumir said, describing the suggestion as unacceptable because HPT worked as one legal entity. He added that the two sides had agreed that the issue should be resolved at a higher level. (hina) lm 121857 MET sep 96
