ZAGREB, Nov 11 (Hina) - Croatian Foreign Minister Mate Granic on
Tuesday received the newly-appointed special envoy of the Belgian
government for the Croatian Danube region, Thierry Muuls, the
Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
The two officials expressed mutual satisfaction with the
successful process of the peaceful reintegration of the UN-
administered Danube region into Croatia.
Granic stressed the constructive role the Belgian battalion and the
outgoing Belgian government envoy, Ambassador de Grubben, had
played in that process.
Granic expressed firm conviction that the UNTAES mission, as a
result of the cooperation of the Croatian government, the UN and all
countries participating in the reintegration process, would
successfully terminate on January 15 next year, after which an OSCE
observer mission would remain in the region.
Croatia hopes that the international community will take an active
part in the economic reconstruction of the Croatian Danube region,
Granic said.
