ZAGREB, Oct 31 (Hina) - Under the organisation of eleven embassies
of EU countries in Croatia, the first "European Union Film
Festival" is to take place in Zagreb from 6 to 17 November, Dutch
embassy deputy mission chief, Joep Wnands, told a news conference
in Zagreb on Thursday.
Shown would be twelve new European films, some of which had already
won international awards, Wnands said, adding that only Belgium, as
a bilingual country, would present two films.
The festival will be opened in Zagreb's Europa cinema with the Dutch
movie "Little Sisters" directed by Robert Jan Westdijk.
The rest of the movies can be seen in Zagreb's "Jadran" cinema.
Spain is to present its movie "A Portrait of a Lady with the Man in
the Background", Austria's film is entitled "India", Germany's
"St. Nicholas Church", Finland is to show "The Land of Happiness",
Belgium will present "Tangotango" in Flemish and "Toto Hero" in
French, and Sweden "Grandfather's Voyage".
France will show "How I Quarrelled...(My Sex Life)", Britain
"Something Beautiful", Greece "From the Snow" and Italy "Pianese
Nunzio, 14 Years in May".
The film festival is sponsored by the Croatian Culture Ministry.
