ZAGREB, Oct 31 (Hina) - The first "European Union Film Festival" is
to take place in Zagreb on November 6-17, Dutch embassy deputy
mission chief Joep Wnands told a news conference in Zagreb this
week.
The event, organised by the embassies of 11 EU countries in Croatia,
will feature twelve new European films, some of which have already
won international awards. Wnands said that only Belgium, as a
bilingual country, would present two films.
The festival will open in Zagreb's Europa cinema with the Dutch
movie "Little Sisters", directed by Robert Jan Westdijk. The other
movies will be shown in the Jadran cinema.
Spain will present a movie entitled "A Portrait of a Lady with the
Man in the Background", Austria will show "India", Germany "St.
Nicholas Church", Finland "The Land of Happiness", and Sweden
"Grandfather's Voyage". Belgium will present "Tangotango" in
Flemish and "Toto Hero" in French,
France will show "How I Quarrelled...(My Sex Life)", Britain
"Something Beautiful", Greece "From the Snow" and Italy "Pianese
Nunzio, 14 Years in May".
The film festival is sponsored by the Croatian Ministry of
Culture.
