WASHINGTON, Nov 2 (Hina) - The tenth world congress on the use of
ultrasound in gynaecology and obstetrics will be held in Croatia in
October 2000, the World Congress General Assembly has decided this
week in Washington.
"The decision is a good proof that Croatia is recognisable in the
sphere of ultrasound and that it stands better than other,
objectively speaking, economically stronger countries," Prof. Dr.
Asim Kurjak, head of the Gynaecology and Obstetrics Clinic at the
Holy Spirit Hospital in Zagreb, said in Washington on Thursday.
About 2,000 medical experts from all over the world are expected to
attend the congress, which will represent a big step in the return
of Croatia to the international scientific scene.
Evaluating Croatia's scientific production in the area of
gynaecology, Kurjak stressed that Croatia was among the five
leading countries according to the number of original scientific
papers and publications on gynaecology.
A European congress of perinatal medicine will be held in Croatia in
June next year.
