SARAJEVO, Mar 8 (Hina) - About 400 Sarajevans gathered on Saturday in front
of the St. Joseph's Church to protest against the recent attacks on Catholic
churches. The peaceful 15-minute protest was the citizens' response to
magazine Dani's public call under the slogan "let's reconstruct the mosques,
let's preserve the churches".
Today's gathering was a sign of hope and encouragement, the rector of
the St. Joseph's Church, Luka Brkovic, told reporters, and thanked the
citizens for their support.
Editor-in-chief of Dani, Senad Pecanin, however pointed out that he
was a bit disappointed with the turnout considering the seriousness of the
event. There were no representatives of cantonal, federal or state
authorities, and the gathering was supervised by a large number of
policemen.
The St. Joseph Church, situated in Sarajevo's Marijin Dvor district,
was bombed three days ago. The perpetrators have still not been discovered.
