This was the first seminar about civilian-military relations in
Croatia. Lecturers were esteemed professors and researchers of the central
institution for problems of civilian-military relations - the Naval Post-
Graduate School's Centre for Civilian-Military relations in Monterey,
California.
Addressing the participants, Croatian Deputy Defence Minister,
Kresimir Cosic, said that civilian supervision over the army had an
important international facet, especially regarding the accession into Euro-
Atlantic integrations, as well as regarding the strengthening of Croatia's
defence system.
He added that Croatia and the USA had agreed to further cooperate in
the fields of the military and education.
One of the main lecturers, Donald Abenheim, said that Croatia had to
work on finding a balance between a good army, which it already had, and a
good democracy, which it wanted to have.
Our aim was to help you with that, Abenheim said.
