Croatia would produce enough wheat to meet 100% of its needs
and enough corn to meet 143% of its needs this year, Agriculture
and Forestry Minister Zlatko Dominikovic said. He announced a fall
in the prices of pork and baby beef.
The Government decided that "Hrvatska Brodogradnja" would have
to repay 291.8 million kuna into the national budget. Of this sum,
157 million would go for downsizing programs and 134.7 million
would be allocated to the Croatian Bank for Reconstruction and
Development for financing the building of three ferries for the
Jadrolinija shipping company.
"With this move, the Government intends to rehabilitate
Croatian shipbuilding and to provide an opening for redundant
workers by enabling them to launch their own businesses," Minister
of the Economy, Davor Stern, said.
"It's up to shipyard managements now," Prime Minister Zlatko
Matesa said, adding that all resources should be focused on
shipbuilding.
The Government did not support a bill of amendments to the
State Audit and National Budget Acts, tabled by MPs Slavko Linic
and Mate Arlovic.
