OSIJEK, Jan 23 (Hina) - Osijek-Baranja County Prefect Branimir
Glavas, on Thursday held talks with Spanish Ambassador to Croatia,
Louis Fernandez de la Pena, on peaceful reintegration of the
Croatian Danubian area, the Croatian Government's Letter of Intent
and elections scheduled for March 16.
The Spanish Ambassador notified Prefect Glavas of his visit to
Vukovar on Thursday and talks with UNTAES officials and local
Serbs.
Ambassador de la Pena said the purpose of his visit was to
gain insight in the situation after the Croatian Government had
released the Letter of Intent on completion of peaceful
reintegration. Although mistrust still pervaded, Serbs in the
Croatian Danubian area had no other option but to accept the Letter
and build their future in Croatia, he added.
The Letter of Intent was the most that Croatia could offer,
and elections in March are the constitutional obligation, and we
shall not give up it, Prefect Glavas said.
