ZAGREB, 7 Feb (Hina) - After they presented their opinions of some 200 amendments, the House of Representatives' members adopted a Bill on Local Election Constituencies on Friday. The Lower House also adopted changes of the Law on
the City of Zagreb. Today's session was closed with the completion of a discussion on a bill on changes of the Law on Telecommunications, proposed by a member of the Social- Democratic Party (SDP), Mato Arlovic. The Lower House is to take a vote on the bill at the next session.
ZAGREB, 7 Feb (Hina) - After they presented their opinions of
some 200 amendments, the House of Representatives' members
adopted a Bill on Local Election Constituencies on Friday.
The Lower House also adopted changes of the Law on the
City of Zagreb.
Today's session was closed with the completion of a
discussion on a bill on changes of the Law on
Telecommunications, proposed by a member of the Social-
Democratic Party (SDP), Mato Arlovic. The Lower House is to
take a vote on the bill at the next session. #L#
The Law on Constituencies envisages some 3,000 election
units, for the election of bodies of representation to 20
county assemblies, to the Zagreb City Assembly, in more than
100 towns to town councils and in more than 400 municipalities
to municipal councils.
The House of Representatives also adopted a bill on
abolishing the Law on the Zagreb County and adopted changes of
the Law on the City of Zagreb, which were proposed by the
Committee for the Constitution, Rules of Procedure and
Political System. According to the changes, the City of Zagreb
is organized as a separate and special territorial and self-
government unit, which has the status of a county and elects
three representatives to the Parliament House of Counties.
