ZAGREB, Feb 26 (Hina) - Bosnian Croat officials could not accept an
incomplete report on tragic events in Mostar, which fits, by its
deficiencies, into the general blame that is laid on (Bosnian)
Croat people as a whole, particularly on Croats in Mostar, said a
statement of the Sarajevo-based office of the Bosnian Federation
President Kresimir Zubak, issued after a report on February 10
events in Mostar. The statement was broadcast late last night by
the Croatian Television news programme 'Motrista'.
A deputy to the international High Representative to Bosnia-
Herzegovina, Michael Steiner, said on Tuesday evening in Sarajevo
that an investigation commission established that some West Mostar
police officers had opened fire at a group that was going to visit
a cemetery on February 10 and that police chiefs in the eastern and
western parts of the town behaved in an unprofessional manner after
the incidents.
The statement of Zubak's office said that the Croat side did
not deny parts of the report, which refer to the tragic event
itself, but the Croat side concluded that findings of the
commission and international police were incomplete as they only
cover a period of the confrontation at about 14.00 hrs (Feb.10).
Such report was not in line with the provision from Point 1 of
decisions on Mostar, accepted in Sarajevo on February 12, 1997,
under which relevant facts should be established and responsible
persons should named for all events that happened before and since
that incident.
The Croat side advocated that nothing should be made public
without such a complete report, the statement said and added that
independently of the report "the Croat side has taken measures
against a part of suspected persons of participating in the events
and is ready to take all measures that derive from a complete
report."
