RESULTS OF INVESTIGATION INTO MOSTAR INCIDENTS EXPECTED ON TUESDAY

Autor:
SARAJEVO, Feb 24 (Hina) - Results of an investigation into events that occurred in Mostar on February 10 are expected to be revealed after they are discussed by top Bosnian Croat and Moslem officials and representatives of the international community at a meeting in Sarajevo on Tuesday evening. The matter was discussed in Sarajevo on Monday by Kresimir Zubak, a Croat member of Bosnia-Herzegovina's collective presidency and president of the Croat-Moslem Federation, Michael Stainer, deputy to the international community's high representatives, and Robert Beecroft, charge d'affaires at the United States Embassy in Sarajevo. Zubak told reporters after the talks that a report by a special commission which had investigated the Mostar events was expected to be adopted on Tuesday and that the document was expected to name persons responsible for the February 10 incidents, propose their punishment and offer measures for improving the present situation in the southern city. Zubak demanded that the report should contain all the facts, not just those about the incident in Mostar's Liska Street but also those about the events that had preceeded the outbreak of violence. Zubak insisted that a visit by Moslems from east Mostar to a cemetery in the Croat-controlled part of town had not been announced to the local command of the NATO-led Stabilization Force (SFOR), for which reason leaders of the Moslem procession should also be held accountable. Zubak said that the Croat side had already conducted an investigation and ordered an arrest of all those who had committed criminal offences. He added that steps had been taken to prevent expulsions of Moslems from west Mostar and to return the expellees to their homes. (hina) vm 242002 MET feb 97
