WASHINGTON, 31 Jan (Hina) - The U.N. Security Council on Thursday
postponed the adoption of a presidential statement on the
completion of peaceful reintegration of the Croatian Danubian area,
due to technical reasons exclusively, members of the Croatian
permanent mission with the U.N. in New York said. #L#
For the largest part of yesterday's session, the Council
discussed situations in Angola, Georgia and Tadzhikistan.
A draft statement on Croatia, the content of which had been
agreed on by Security Council member-states, was submitted to the
Council by Portugal Thursday afternoon.
After its confirmation, the draft statement is to be
translated in six languages and printed, which caused the technical
delay.
South Korean representatives asked that the adoption of the
statement be postponed for a while because of time difference with
Seoul, so that they could receive official permission from their
government concerning the adoption of the final text of the
statement.
The statement should be read out by the Japanese Ambassador
Hisashi Owada at a formal session of the Council which is to take
place around noon on Friday.
