ZAGREB, Jan 2 (Hina) - The Croatian Railways (HZ) management and HZ Workers' Union on Thursday signed an agreement on the termination of a strike which began on 28 December 1996. The agreement had been signed by HZ management
director Marijan Klaric and Union president Zlatko Pavletic, a statement from the general director's office said.
ZAGREB, Jan 2 (Hina) - The Croatian Railways (HZ) management and HZ
Workers' Union on Thursday signed an agreement on the termination
of a strike which began on 28 December 1996.
The agreement had been signed by HZ management director
Marijan Klaric and Union president Zlatko Pavletic, a statement

The HZ management committed itself to sign the first part of a
collective agreement by the end of January, which would contain the
part of the collective agreement agreed on by the two sides, if HZ
unions with the right to collective negotiations signed it.
If the part of the collective agreement is not signed, the HZ
management is to use additional resources amounting to 5 percent of
the whole amount for salaries in order to create more equal
relations among salaries.
As regards the respect of rights under the Work Regulations,
the HZ Union agreed to the dynamics of payoffs of unrealized rights
from 27 January 1996.
As regards the problem of flats for railway workers, the HZ
management fully elaborated item 5.1. of the Agreement on the
termination on the strike from 28 February 1996 and the issues are
expected to be decided on by the government and Croatian
Parliament.
The issue of full and long-term solving of the position of HZ
will be discussed before the Croatian Parliament.
B signing the Agreement, the union had terminated the strike
begun on 28 December 1996, the statement said.
