VINKOVCI, Jan 23 (Hina) - New offices for issuing Croatian
documents to the population in the Croatian Danubian area
would open until January 27, Vukovar-Srijem County's office
for administration reported on Thursday.
Vukovar-Srijem County Administration Office's employees
will issue document in offices at Negoslavci, Tovarnik,
Brsadin, Stari Jankovci, Tompojevci, Bobota and Borovo
Naselje. There are already offices in Vukovar, Markusica,
Borovo Selo, Mirkovci and Sidski Banovci.
The office in Ilok, closed on Christmas Eve by the UN
Transitional Administrator Jacques Klein's decision does not
still work despite announcement that it might re-open on
January 15.
According to the County Administration Office's Head,
Marijana Matanovic, the Office has received over 22,000
applications for Croatian citizenship certificate. Of them,
about 17,000 applications have been processed. Furthermore,
about 9,000 applications for birth certificate have been
submitted, and 7,000 of them have been solved.
