VITEZ, Sept 8 (Hina) - Twenty-five Bosniak (Muslim) families
returned on Tuesday to the village of Gacice, in the central Bosnian
municipality of Vitez.
Muhamed Rebihic, president of the Vitez municipal council, thanked
Vitez's municipal head Ivo Garic and the municipality's branch of
the Croatian Democratic Union of Bosnia-Herzegovina (HDZ BiH),
describing their contribution to the return to Gacice as
constructive.
The return to the village came after two unsuccessful attempts.
On Tuesday Rebihic called on Croats to return to Djotline Kuce,
Poculica and other villages in the Vitez municipality.
Central Bosnia Canton Prefect Adnan Terzic promised that the
returnees would receive assistance from the canton's
institutions.
The Vitez branch president of the Association of the (Croat)
Veterans and Volunteers of the Homeland War, Anto Jakic, who
witnessed the return, said that the Bosniak returnees would not
face any difficulties despite the opposition of local Croats to
their return.
He reproached the international community for unbalanced treatment
of Bosniak and Croat returnees.
Thus 15 frustrated attempts by local Croats to return to the village
of Bukovica is still failing to trigger an adequate response by the
international community.
