RIJEKA, Jan 7 (Hina) - The Assembly of Primorje-Gorski Kotar County
was established in Rijeka Wednesday.
Miljenko Doric of the Croatian People's Party (HNS) was elected
president, while Dragutin Tomljenovic of the Croatian Democratic
Union (HDZ) and Vidoje Vujic, a representative of ethnic or
national communities or minorities, were voted vice-presidents of
the Assembly.
Milivoj Brozina of the Primorje-Gorski Kotar Alliance (PGS) was
elected prefect, while Luka Denona of the Social Democratic Party
(SDP) and Teodor Antic of the Croatian Social Liberal Party (HSLS)
were elected deputy prefects.
A local election was repeated in Primorje-Gorski Kotar County in
late November due to the fact that the county's executive authority
had not been established after a regular election in April.
Twenty-nine of the 40 councillors are from the coalition of the SDP,
the HNS, the HSLS and the PGS, eight are from the coalition of the
HDZ, the Croatian Christian Democratic Union (HKDU) and the
Croatian Christian Democratic Party (HKDS), while three are from
the Istrian Democratic Party (IDS).
Today's session was attended by 37 councillors.
