NOVI VINODOLSKI, 6 January 1998 (hina)- On Tuesday, Novi
Vinodolski, a little town on the Croatian coast of the Adriatic,
marked the 710th anniversary of its penal code.
The Novi Vinodolski penal code, one of the oldest legal documents in
this part of Europe, was proclaimed on 6 January 1288. The code
regulated former custom law in the principality of Novi
Vinodolski.
The ceremony was attended by representatives of the Croatian
Constitutional Court and the Government,as well as by renown legal
experts from Croatia and abroad.
The conference,where some of the speakers were Jadranko Crnić,
president of the Constitutional Court and Dr. Karl Georg Zierlein,
director of the German Federal Court, awarded renown legal experts
from Croatia and Germany for contribution they made to the
reputation of The Croatian Human Rights Institute which was founded
in Novi Vinodolski two years ago.
