The HNS/PGS club previously nominated Nikola Vuljanic, but has decided in the meantime to give up its proposal, the club's chairman, Dragutin Lesar, told a news conference on Tuesday.
"We do not want to be an obstacle to efforts to establish the new commission, and our decision will be on the conscience of Zlatko Tomcic and Ivica Racan, " Lesar said.
He explained that Racan of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and Tomcic of the Peasant Party (HSS) agreed, during negotiations led by opposition parties, that the joint opposition member of the commission should come from the ranks of the Croatian Party of Rights (HSP).
"We have been told that the HSP deserves this place for its engagement in the elaboration of the relevant law in the last parliament as well as for its recent distancing from the ruling HDZ party," Lesar added.
