Speaking at the party's convention for internal elections of its branch in the seventh constituency in Samobor, west of Zagreb, Sanader said the elections would be called at least 30 days before the date of its holding in compliance with terms stipulated by the Constitution, and he believes the election campaign will last some three weeks.
Jadranka Kosor voiced confidence in her victory, adding that she would be the president of every Croatian man and woman. She went on to say that her messages in the campaign would be addressed particularly to young people and women from whom she expected great support.
"I will strongly advocate and promote the Croatian national interests and struggle for the dignity of every Croatian man," she told the convention in Samobor.
The HDZ senior official and the parliament's speaker Vladimir Seks accused the opposition of uniting themselves in an unprincipled manner in their support to the current President Stjepan Mesic for his second term.
"They (opposition parties) do not have their own candidates and they link their political future with the current head of state, as his possible success is a chance for their survival on the political scenes," Seks said.
