ZAGREB, April 24 (Hina) - Members of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) met in Rijeka on Saturday for the ninth electoral assembly entitled "Towards European Future" at which they are expected to elect their new leadership for a term
of four years.

(HDZ) met in Rijeka on Saturday for the ninth electoral assembly
entitled "Towards European Future" at which they are expected to elect
their new leadership for a term of four years.#L#
The party's incumbent president, Ivo Sanader, is the only candidate
running for the post of party president, while Jadranka Kosor is
running for the post of his deputy.
HDZ members will also elect a ten-member presidency and members of the
National Committee, the Supervisory Board, and the High Court of
Honour.
They will also discuss changes to the party statute proposing that the
post of party vice-president be replaced with the post of presidency
member.
Party leader Sanader will submit a report on the party's work since
the last electoral assembly and other senior party officials will
deliver speeches, with emphasis on the economy and Croatia's
integration into the European Union.
