The NATO-led peacekeeping force said in a statement 80 members of a
special purposes unit were involved in the operation.
Bosnian Serb radio had earlier reported that two hours after midnight
SFOR personnel blocked roads leading to Pale, checking all vehicles
and passengers.
Pale was the Bosnian Serbs' main stronghold during the 1992-1995 war.
There is the family home of Radovan Karadzic, Serb wartime leader
sought by the UN war crimes tribunal in The Hague on genocide charges.
His wife and children still live there.
